Microneedling Questions Answered

Does microneedling hurt?
A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin around 30 minutes before treatment, which significantly reduces any discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or warmth rather than pain. Some areas — such as around the nose or forehead — can feel slightly more sensitive, but the treatment is well tolerated by the vast majority of people. On a scale of 1–10, most clients report around a 2–3.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on what you're looking to address. For general skin rejuvenation and fine lines, a course of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is a popular starting point. For more pronounced concerns such as acne scarring or deeper texture issues, 4–6 sessions is more typical. Results build progressively over time as your skin produces new collagen, with continued improvement for 3–6 months after a course. Sara will advise on the right plan for your skin at your consultation.
What is the downtime after microneedling?
Redness, similar to mild sunburn, is completely normal for 24–48 hours after treatment. Some clients also experience minor swelling, dryness or tightness in the days following. By day 3–5 you may notice some light flaking as your skin renews. Most clients feel comfortable returning to work the following day. We recommend avoiding heavy exercise, saunas, swimming and direct sun exposure for 48 hours, and SPF is essential in the days following treatment.
What makes Luxury Microneedling different?
Luxury Microneedling combines the standard treatment with two powerful additions — Salmon DNA (PDRN) and LED light therapy. Salmon DNA is a bio-regenerative ingredient with healing and hydration-boosting properties, applied topically to be absorbed through the micro-channels created during treatment. LED light therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to help calm inflammation, support collagen synthesis and enhance overall healing. Together, they typically deliver better hydration and glow compared to Basic Microneedling alone.
