The longevity of dermal fillers varies depending on the area treated, the product used and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle. As a general guide, lip fillers typically last around 6–12 months; cheek and structural fillers often last longer — around 12–18 months. Factors such as high levels of exercise, smoking and sun exposure can cause fillers to break down more quickly. Sara will give you a realistic expectation for your specific treatment at consultation.

A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area before the procedure, and many of the filler products we use also contain lidocaine — a local anaesthetic — within the formula itself, which further reduces discomfort during injection. Most clients find the treatment very manageable. The lips can be one of the more sensitive areas, but the numbing cream significantly minimises this.

Some swelling, tenderness and occasionally bruising in the treated area is completely normal after dermal fillers, particularly with lip treatments. This typically peaks within 24–48 hours and subsides over the following few days. We advise avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol and excessive heat for 24 hours after treatment. The final result is best assessed once any swelling has fully settled — usually within 1–2 weeks.
